The Track
Opened in 1953, Oulton Park Circuit, located in Cheshire, England, started as the grounds of Oulton Hall. It has hosted various racing formats, including British Touring Car Championships. The track is known for its combination of fast, sweeping bends and tight chicanes, set in a picturesque landscape. The circuit features iconic sections like Druids Corner, a steep, downhill double-apex bend, and Lodge Corner, leading onto the start/finish straight, challenging drivers with its mix of technical and high-speed sections.

Analysis
The analysis below uses the Track Titan platform to compare a HYMO reference hotlap in blue to one of the Track Titan community drivers through Turn 1. The community driver gets too keen, entering the corner slightly faster than the reference. They then try to get back on the power slightly too early, they lift once they realise but it was too late. Often it can be nearly impossible to lift out of it after the apex as the instability caused can also send you wide. The community driver goes onto the grass and loses over 0.2s on exit.

Sim Racing Top Tips
The ideal racing line is the fastest path through a corner on a racetrack. It typically involves entering from the outer edge of the track, cutting close to the inside edge (the apex) at the corner's midpoint, and then exiting wide again. This line maximises the corner's radius, allowing for higher speeds. The exact line can vary based on track layout, car characteristics, and driving conditions. Mastery of the ideal line is crucial for minimising lap times and maximising speed and efficiency around a racetrack.
