Ferrari 296 GT3 Monza HYMO Hot Lap Analysis
Let’s take a look at this hot lap of Monza in the Ferrari 296 GT3 driven by HYMO.
The Track
This challenging, technical circuit demands precise car setup, especially navigating through iconic corners such as Ascari, Parabolica, and Variante della Roggia. Achieving the right balance between these sections can be tricky, but fear not – HYMO has your back, offering the exact setup used in this impressive lap video available HERE.
Established in 1922, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza stands as one of the most renowned racetracks globally. Hosting the Formula One Italian Grand Prix continuously since 1950, with occasional races dating back to 1922, the track features high-speed straights, sharp chicanes, and challenging curves. Monza has also been a key venue in the FIA World Endurance Championship since 1953.
Analysis
Using the Track Titan software, we can compare a community driver to the HYMO driver through Parabolica, the final corner on this track. This corner is a fast, very long right hand corner, it’s essential to keep as much momentum as possible. This requires the perfect line through the corner, which the community driver unfortunately didn’t get in this case.
Looking at the braking graph, we can see that both drivers brake around the same time, but the HYMO driver (in light blue) starts trail braking. This helps to rotate their car through the corner while keeping up that all-important momentum. The community driver turns in to the corner too late, causing them to go wide too early, and they stay on the outside of the corner for the rest of the turn. This means they are taking a longer line through the corner, while also not going as quickly which loses them a lot of time. Finally, the HYMO driver doesn’t use all of the track on the exit. This is done to make the run to the finish line as short and straight as possible, gaining them even more time.

Hot Laps Top Tips
In sim racing, throttle control is a key skill that can greatly influence your performance on the track. It’s not just about flooring the gas pedal, but about understanding when to accelerate and how much throttle to apply. Proper throttle control can help you maintain stability, especially during corner exits and in slippery conditions.
Feathering the throttle is a technique where you gradually apply and release the throttle, rather than abruptly pushing or releasing it. This allows for smoother acceleration and deceleration, helping to maintain traction and prevent spins. It’s particularly useful in high-powered vehicles and in situations where grip is limited. Like all skills in sim racing, it requires practice, but mastering it can give you a significant advantage on the track.
