Ferrari 296 GT3 Nürburgring Hot Lap Analysis
Let’s take a look at this hot lap of Nürburgring in the Ferrari 296 GT3 driven by HYMO.
The Track
The Nürburgring, located in Germany's Eifel region, is a complex of tracks renowned for the challenging Nordschleife layout. Spanning over 25 kilometres with more than 170 turns when combined with the Grand Prix circuit, the Nürburgring's multifaceted nature and varying elevation make it one of the most demanding tracks in the world. Its unpredictable weather and the dense Eifel forests add layers of complexity, making each lap a profound test of skill and resolve.
The Nürburgring GP-Strecke (Grand Prix Track) is a world-renowned F1 style circuit, adjacent to the legendary Nordschleife. Constructed in the early 1980s, this track was built to bring modern racing standards to the Nürburgring complex. The GP-Strecke measures approximately 5.148 kilometres (3.199 miles) and features 16 turns, offering a blend of technical sections, fast corners, and strategic straights.

Analysis
The analysis below uses the Track Titan platform to compare a HYMO reference hotlap in blue to one of the Track Titan community drivers through Segment 3. In this segment the community driver loses time mid-corner. The main reason for this is that they do not pick up the throttle like the reference driver. People think picking up the throttle mid-corner is bad and you should wait until out of the corner before getting on power. However, a small amount of throttle can actually stabilise the car by maintaining constant speed and therefore balance front to rear to keep the car under control. The additional minimum speed in the middle of the segment just allows the reference to get ahead bit by bit up to a total of 0.2s by the end of the segment.

Sim Racing Top Tips
Good racecraft is as important in sim racing as it is on real tracks. It involves understanding racing lines, predicting opponents' moves, and executing clean overtakes. Always plan your moves; successful overtaking requires precision and timing. Use slipstreams to gain speed on straights, and out brake opponents into corners, but always leave enough space to avoid contact. Defensive driving is equally vital; know when to defend your line and when to concede a position to avoid collisions. Sometimes defending when you don't need to can also cause you to give up a position.
