How much does it cost to get started with decent sim racing gear?

Entry level wheel and pedal sets are very much affordable, and more companies are making them as well. And these affordable options will not limit your ability to be a fast sim racer. Our own Max Teichert has succesfully qualified for the Nissan GT academy on an old decrepit Logitech GT driving force. So don't think you need to spend a fortune to start sim racing competitively.

The options

There are two main brands you can choose from in the budget category; Logitech and Thrustmaster. Both offer entry level wheels, which have been proven to be quality products, and the start of most peoples sim racing careers.

The Logitech G923 wheel + pedal set goes for around €250 - €300 depending on where and when you go shopping.

The Thrustmaster T150 wheel + pedal set starts at around €200 but is a little more barebones compared to the Logitech offering.

The Thrustmaster T300RS wheel + pedal set starts at around €350, which provides a somewhat better quality product than the T150.
