McLaren 720s EVO GT3 Imola HYMO Hot Lap Analysis
Let’s take a look at this hot lap of Indianapolis in the McLaren 720s EVO GT3 driven by HYMO.
The Track
The Imola Circuit, officially known as the AutodromoInternazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, is a renowned motorsport venue located inImola, Italy. Driving at Imola, known for its mix of high-speed straights andtight corners, demands precise techniques. Effective braking and corner entryare crucial, especially for turns like Tamburello and Rivazza. Maintainingmomentum through the Variante Alta chicane is key. Smooth throttle applicationon exits, particularly at Tosa and Piratella, is vital to maximize speed on thefollowing straights. Imola's layout tests a driver's ability to balance speedwith technical skill, making it a challenging and rewarding circuit to master. There is not much in the way of runoff at Imola, so focus on timing the brakingpoints.

Analysis
Below we look at the comparison between a community driver and the HYMO reference hotlap around Turn 19 (Piratella) at Imola. In this mini sector the time loss for the orange community driver is about 0.1s compared to the HYMO reference lap. The data gives us an insight as to why. You can see from the diff to ref graph that time is lost at the apex just after increasing brake pressure again. Ideally you should blend off the brakes smoothly as one motion as you turn in like the reference lap. However the community driver has a second stab at it, either because they thought they were too fast or too wide. This extra stab of brake looks to have slowed them too much at the apex and also pushed them wide. This costs them time/momentum on the corner exit.
