Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO Mount Panorama HYMO Hot Lap Analysis
Let’s take a look at this hot lap of Mount Panorama in the Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO driven by HYMO.
The Track
The Mount Panorama street circuit located in Bathurst, Australia is a very technical track. Famous for its claustrophobic appearance with walls all around you as you enter the uphill section. You want to have a good setup for this difficult track or you might end up in the wall. Luckily HYMO has got you covered with the same setup that is being used in the reference video. HERE
Originating in 1938, the Mount Panorama circuit is a very famous racing track among racing fans all over the world. This track was originally open for motorcycles. These were later outruled due to evolving safety standards. GT3 cars have been driving here since 2011 in the 12 hours of Bathurst. The track itself has a whopping 174-meter elevation change.
Analysis
Using the Track Titan software to compare the HYMO lap to a community lap. We can see that the HYMO driver (orange) gains 0.2 seconds in the esses section. This sequence of corners is crucial for a fast lap time. However, you don’t want to overdo the corner because if you lose the car in this corner you will smash into the wall at 200+ km/h.
Looking at the braking graph, we can see that the HYMO driver (orange) brakes a bit later for the entry of the esses and carries on more speed through the upcoming kinks gaining him 0.3s. For the next braking zone in the dipper corner, the HYMO driver brakes a bit more than the community driver so he could still make the corner while only losing 0.1s. For a total of 0.2s gained.

Sim Racing Top Tips
You should drive practice driving off the racing line. Why? You may wonder. When you are driving against another driver there is a big chance you won’t be driving on the ideal racing line. Therefore you might not know if the braking point changes or where the grip in the corner is. let's fix that!
To practice driving off the racing line, you can go into a practice session with your friends or against A.I. and try to always be side by side throughout the whole lap. When you have experience doing this you will feel more comfortable when it happens in a race scenario. You might even figure out a sneaky tactic that someone might not expect.
