Analysis

The analysis below uses the Track Titan platform to compare a HYMO reference hotlap to one of the Track Titan community drivers at Paddock Hill Bend. Here we see an example of where the community driver loses the rear of the car over the crest - forcing them into oposite lock. The community driver might want to look into their setup and compare it to the HYMO driver, such as increasing rear downforce or moving the brake bias forwards. Additionally they brake slightly harder which could have caused the snap oversteer. Otherwise the entry line and speed matches the reference. The snap causes the community driver to brake to catch the slide but this puts them wide and they lose over 1s to the reference as a result. This is a common mistake at Paddock Hill.

Hot Laps Top Tips

Tackling elevation changes in racing demands a strategic approach, esspecially at corners like Paddock Hill Bend at Brands Hatch. Drivers must master the art of entering and exiting corners at varying heights, using the natural 'loading' of the car through uphill sections to maximize grip, and cautiously navigating downhill parts where gravity lessens contact with the road. It’s about understanding how a car's weight shifts and using that knowledge to maintain optimal speed without compromising stability or tire adherence. Each crest and dip is an opportunity to gain time or risk losing it, making mastery of elevation a key aspect of a racer's skill set.
