Porsche 992 GT3 R Suzuka HYMO Hot Lap Analysis

Let’s take a look at this hot lap of Suzuka in the Porsche 992 GT3 R driven by HYMO.

The Track

Suzuka Circuit in Japan, with its unique figure-eight layout, stands out in the racing world. This 5.807 km track features 18 turns, including the demanding Spoon Curve and the high-speed 130R. Known for its technical complexity, Suzuka tests a driver's ability to seamlessly blend speed with precision. It remains one of the few truly old-school circuits on the F1 calendar, which makes it one of the most challenging due to the lack of run off.

The good news is, the HYMO setup used in this hot lap video is available for you to try HERE.

Analysis

The analysis below uses the Track Titan platform to compare a HYMO reference hotlap to one of the Track Titan community drivers through the 2nd Segment. These Esses require smooth transitions to avoid overdriving the car. Here we see the community driver seems to have the throttle and driving line dialled in well but the average speed through the section is down. The driver could either be less confident or have the wrong setup, or both. The setup they have might be too low on downforce or be too stiff - reducing mechanical grip. They should compare their setup to the HYMO reference and then attempt to carry more speed into the corners.

Sim Racing Top Tips

Adjusting brake bias is crucial for optimising braking performance. Moving the bias towards the front increases front braking power, useful for high-speed braking and stability. Shifting it rearward helps in tight corners, promoting oversteer for better turn-in. It's important to find a balance that suits your driving style and track conditions. Experiment in practice sessions to find the ideal setting. Remember, too much bias in either direction can lead to understeer or oversteer, and potentially losing control, especially in wet conditions.
