Porsche 992 GT3 R Zandvoort HYMO Hot Lap Analysis
Let’s take a look at this hot lap of Zandvoort in the Porsche 992 GT3 R driven by HYMO.
The Track
Circuit Zandvoort, nestled among the North Sea dunes near Amsterdam, offers a unique blend of history and coastal challenges. The 4.259 km track with 14 turns, including the Tarzanbocht, presents a mix of high-speed sections and tight corners. The influence of coastal winds and the track's undulating nature add to its distinct character, making it a unique challenge in the racing world. The track was recently reprofiled for F1 to return there, however this new layout has yet to make an appearance in ACC.

Analysis
The analysis below uses the Track Titan platform to compare a HYMO reference hotlap to one of the Track Titan community drivers through Segment 9. Below we can see the community driver brakes too late and goes too deep into the chicane. This tightens their line for the left hander and means they cannot get on the power until later. They also take a narrow line on exit, which might be to try and straighten it up early for traction but the consequence is about 0.5s of lap time on the exit.

Sim Racing Top Tips
Dealing with banked corners requires specific techniques:
- Entry Speed: Assess the banking angle to determine your entry speed. Higher banking allows higher speeds.
- Line Selection: Use the banking to your advantage. A higher line can offer a smoother turn and maintain more speed.
- Throttle Control: Apply the throttle steadily. The banking will help in maintaining grip, but be smooth to avoid losing traction.
- Steering Inputs: Make smooth steering adjustments. Sudden changes can unsettle the car.
- Exit Strategy: Plan your exit line to smoothly transition back onto a flat surface, maintaining control and speed.
- Suspension Setup: Adjust your car's suspension to handle the lateral loads (and vertical) in banked turns.
Remember, practice is key in mastering banked corners, as each track's banking characteristics are unique.
